Object – Second life

The recent events have informed us so much about the development of this work.  This idea of navegation as a performance tool is crucial to our work. We devised this experiment in Friday,  in order to attain a degree of the potential of this type of work. We are now trying to figure out, which is the most effective way to comunicate in this type of space. I figure there is certainlly room for some ambiguity in this type of work. In the back of my mind there is the work of Janet Cardiff appearing constantly as a reference, how she layers out the information over a determined space.

In top of this, we want to connect this idea, with the usage of objects that we give to the avatar audience in the performance. We came up to this, after discussing the limitations of the idea of a fixed listening point. In a way this “object”, is related to this idea. Each object is a sound, of our composition work made for this space. A sound that can be modified, by a different positioning of the avatar in the space.

In a personal level, there was also another thing that came to me on the friday session. I have this crazy idea, that maybe this whole experience should be a  “walk” through different places in second life. In which a avatar brings a object that informs two layers of sound, the live sound, and the recorded sound, with an history based on his navegation. Maybe the sarc plot, should be the starting point, with defined teleporting points.

Confusing…hmmm..maybe our main challenge is to create these different places in one plot of land.
